  • About | Kick To Connect

Why Kick to Connect Exists Young people spend so much of their lives feeling that they don't belong — and changing who they are trying to find their place. Kick to Connect exists to give them somewhere they don't have to do that. A place where they can be completely comfortable in who they are, whilst playing a sport they love. When a young person is truly themselves, their people find them. And for the coaches who guide them, a place to understand the influence they carry, and the clarity, confidence and consistency to use it well. Because the environment a coach creates shapes everything. And who they are shapes that environment. "I believe a lack of connection to self can quietly hinder your connection to everything else. And sometimes all it takes is one thought, one word, one action to spark that connection to your authentic self." Hi. I'm Todd. I've spent thirty years in football and the last several in youth work, community support and coaching development. What I found across all of it is the same thing — when people feel genuinely safe and comfortable in who they are, they find their own way. Want the full story? What's our why? Our belief- A lack of connection to self can quietly hinder your connection to everything else. Our mission — to ignite growth in young people and the coaches who guide them, through connection and football. Our vision — a world where young people of all ages and abilities are "Living Potential". Our Values Connect and Care Connection is where everything starts. Purpose over Pressure Show up as yourself. That's enough. Safety, Fun and Joy Safe to belong. Joy in the journey. Confidence without Comparison Your pace. Your journey. No judgement. The full story Most people start with what they do. I want to start with why. I spent fifteen years playing football — from community ovals through talent pathways and back again. Until the day I realised the joy had gone. Not because football changed. Because somewhere along the way, performing replaced playing. Pressure replaced purpose. And I stopped being myself on the field. That moment didn't just teach me something about football. It taught me something about people. I've been coaching since 2011. Community clubs. WAFL talent pathways. Senior WAFL teams. Years of standing on sidelines, working with players, and watching what happens when the environment gets it right — and when it doesn't. But it was when I moved my career from the corporate world into community support, disability support, and youth work — while continuing to coach — that something shifted. For the first time, both worlds were speaking to each other. Football and human development. Performance and people. And I found what coaching alone had never quite given me — a deep understanding of what people actually need to feel safe enough to grow. I spent a year working directly with community coaches. The ones who show up every weekend because they care. Not because they're qualified. Not because they're paid. Because someone has to, and they put their hand up. Those coaches don't need more drills or more tactics. They need support understanding the power of connection. They need Clarity, Confidence and Consistency. They need someone to do for them what they're trying to do for their players. That's where I knew that across every role I've held, the thread has been the same. A belief that when a person feels genuinely safe — not judged, not measured, not compared to anyone else — they find their own way. They don't need to be fixed. They need room to be themselves. That belief is what drives everything I do. If any of this resonates with you — as a parent, a coach, or someone who simply believes young people deserve better — you're already part of the why. Want to know more about what we're building? We'd love to hear from you.

  • Your Crew Clinics | Kick To Connect

Your Crew Clinics Designed for groups of 6 to 12 young people who already know each other and want to go deeper. A space where connection happens through football, reflection, and genuine conversation. What makes it different Built for groups of 6 - 10 young people who already know each other — friends, siblings, teammates — who want to go deeper. Not just on the oval, but with each other and within themselves. The football gives them something to do together. The conversations, challenges and take-home activities carry that connection beyond the session — into their families, their friendships, and their everyday lives. The football is the vehicle. The connection — and the leadership that grows from it — is the point. The Arc 1 Week 1-3 Three weeks of football, connection, and honest conversation. Each session goes a little deeper than the last. 2 Week 4 Each young person leads. Each person teaches a skill they've developed to the rest of the group. They then go away with one final task. 3 Close-out The last session becomes the most important one. We come back with what we discovered in our final task. What gets shared in that room tends to stay with people. If you have a group who'd benefit from this — get in touch. It starts with a conversation.

But nobody told you how much weight you'd carry — the pressure to get it right, the kids who disengage, the moments you're not sure you handled well. You're not looking for a manual. You're looking for clarity about who you are in that role and how to use it well. Before You Decide A few things worth knowing before you decide — and if something isn't covered, please reach out. No question is too small. This isn't about accreditation — it's about something deeper Are you willing to put the young person's growth ahead of your own need to feel important? • Coaching Compass | Kick To Connect

Coaching Compass The environment you create shapes everything. Who you are shapes the environment. Coaching is more than teaching a sport. It is shaping people. What it is and what it isn't? Kick to Connect is not an accreditation program. It doesn't promise to make you a better tactician or give you an unbeatable game style. What it will do — if you do the work — is connect you more deeply to yourself and the young people you support. You'll leave with a clearer sense of who you are as a coach, how you can positively impact a young person's life, and what keeps you grounded when things get hard. What we work though The program moves through five areas: Who you are as a coach Connection before coaching Designing environments that serve young people Communicating with clarity Reflection for growth Each builds on the last. Connection is our focus Connection to Self Your identity and why you coach Connection to Players How to create an environment young people feel seen and want to be a part of Connection to your role Serving the development of your players over your own needs Connection to your values How to show up consistently, regardless of results What Coaches leave with Clarity About who you are and why you coach Confidence Not from needing to be the expert, but from knowing their purpose is to serve Consistency Showing up reliably, recognisably themselves In the end, it's not about the coach. But it starts with one.

  • Off Season Compass | Kick To Connect

Off Season Compass A Coaching Compass program — delivered in the off season. The season is over. Now is when you get honest about who you actually were — and whether that was truly you. Because that's where the real work begins. What it is and what it isn't? The Off Season Compass is not an accreditation program. It won't give you a drill sheet, a game plan template, or a certificate to frame on the wall. What we will do together Debrief — look back honestly What happened this season. Not the results — the moments. Where did you show up the way you wanted to? Where did old habits creep back in? Where did a young person need something you weren't sure how to give? Rebuild — build forward with intention. Who do you want to be next season — before it starts. We support in building the environment before the first training session. So players not they're safe and soon as they arrive. The philosophy is the same one the Coaching Compass is built on: the young person's development matters more than the coach's significance. The off season is simply the best time to actually do something with that belief — before next season starts and the noise begins again. Who's in the room? Both new coaches and returning ones — deliberately. New coaches come with a blank page. Returning coaches come with a full season of real material. What happens when both are in the same room is one of the most valuable parts of the program — the returning coach reflects openly, the new coach realises growth isn't a weakness, and both leave differently. The most powerful thing is what coaches learn from each other. What we work though The program moves through five areas: Who you are as a coach Connection before coaching Designing environments that serve young people Communicating with clarity Care, and reflecting for growth Each builds on the last Connection is our focus Connection to Self Your identity and why you coach Connection to Players How to create an environment young people feel seen and want to be a part of Connection to your role Serving the development of your players over your own needs Connection to your values How to show up consistently, regardless of results What Coaches leave with Clarity About who you are and why you coach Confidence Not from needing to be the expert, but from knowing their purpose is to serve Consistency Showing up reliably, recognisably themselves Who do you want to be before next season starts? • For Parents and Young People | Kick To Connect

Parents, We know what you're thinking. Will my kid fit in? What if they're not very good? What if they're nervous? Those are exactly the right questions — and they're exactly why Kick To Connect is built the way it is. You want your child to love sport. But somewhere along the way the pressure crept in — comparisons, performance anxiety, not feeling good enough. You're not looking for an elite program. You're looking for somewhere they can just be themselves, make friends, and connect. Let us reassure you Every concern a parent or young person has before they walk through the door for the first time is a valid one. Here's what we want you to know — and if something isn't covered, please reach out. No question is too small. Your child doesn't need experience — or talent Everyone is learning, everyone is contributing, and everyone is welcome exactly as they are. Football skills and life skills grow together When a kid learns to kick accurately under pressure, they're also learning to manage nerves and back themselves. When they support a teammate through a mistake, they're building empathy and trust. The football skills and the life skills grow from the same moments. Ability doesn't determine belonging That includes the talented ones. Some of the most skilled young players come here to find a clearer sense of who they are. To connect genuinely with others, regardless of ability level. To discover that their value as a person isn't tied to how well they perform. Young people with a disability are genuinely included We don't design for the average young person and adjust for everyone else. We design for every person who comes through the door. If your child is nervous, they're in the right place The environment is designed so that taking a risk, making a mistake, or asking for help is normal and expected, not embarrassing. We've all been the new kid who didn't know anyone and wasn't sure they belonged. That's exactly who this is built for. Your anxiety as a parent is valid too If you want to chat before your child attends their first session — about what to expect, how we handle moments of struggle, or simply to feel more comfortable yourself — reach out. A parent at ease makes it a lot easier for a young person to walk through the door feeling okay. Youth Programs There are three ways for your child to experience Kick to Connect — built on the same philosophy, just in a different format Connection Clinics Eight weekly sessions held during the school term and open to all young people aged 6–18, regardless of ability or experience. Built around the Belong → Build → Lead arc — a structured journey at their own pace. Learn more School Holiday Clinics The same program, the same philosophy during the school holidays. Perfect for young people who want a taste, or can't commit to a full term. Learn more Your Crew Clinics Built for groups who already know each other — friends, siblings, teammates — who want to deepen that connection through football. Learn more Still not sure? That's OK. Reach out and ask anything. No question is too small.
